"One of the most spectacular homes overlooking the American River belongs to Richard [ed, Ralph] and Marla Andersen of Carmichael. Built entirely of Canadian cedar, the four-level home features Italian ceramic tile in the entry way, a lush atrium and a 600-bottle wine cellar. Approximately 69,000 board feet of cedar were used in the framing, decks and finish of the home. Not one nail hole is visible inside or outside the home. Another unique feature of the home is the swivel front door that opens and closes on the thrust bearing hubs of a '77 Rambler. The home is on a hill, allowing the Andersen family to enjoy a front yard swimming pool and Jacuzzi out of public view. Completed this past fall, the project took three years to design and build. Carter Sparks of Sacramento was the architect of the 3,800-square-foot home. Peter Minarick of Rescue was the builder." - Sacramento Bee
