Frame House : 1957
Potrero Way, Sacramento, CA
4 bed / 3.5 bath / 3,275 sq. ft / 20,038 sq. ft lot
"The Frame home, built around 1957 for a close friend of the architect (Dr. Warren Frame delivered Sparks' daughter, and the Sparks family spent many holidays at the Frame's home), announces its theme, as so many Sparks houses do, at the front door, which rises to meet the sloping roof and slopes along with it.
...
Sparks, who admired Asian architecture, also supplied Dr. Frame and family with a Japanese teahouse besides the backyard pool. "

Thanks to the Frame family, I'm able to share some quick interior snapshots they took as they were putting their house on the market.
The story goes that the curved partition at the entyway was created by Sparks to accomodate the Frames' previous sofa, which was curved. Details also show pullchains that run floor to ceiling which acted as light switches. An accordian room divider originally seperated the dining from living room, providing extra intimacy at the dining table. Most of the day to day meals however, were eaten at the drop down table. Also note the light fixtures (not designed by Sparks), and built in telephone nook.
