"Room at the top is the quiet room in the Hahn home"
By Candy McGimsey

The room at the Top in the George Hahn home is the living room.
When Carter Sparks designed the tri-level home overlooking the American River he included a "quiet area" on the third floor.
"Carter put the quiet area - the master bedroom living room suite - on the top floor so we could look out over the river yet maintain our privacy." Avalon Hahn confided.
"we wanted a home that would give the feeling of the mountains." said Dr. George Hahn, a local general practitioner. "We wanted a pretty home that was practical."
The Hahns have found peace and privacy. Large trees, a lake and ground covering provide the family with scenery reminiscent of Donner Lake, where the couple lived during their first year of marriage.
Steps are a necessity in the tri-level home. They lead into the living area, down to the utility room, up to the bedrooms, down to the bathrooms, up to the "quiet area" and down into the living room.
"The steps keep us in shape." Mrs. Hahn joked.
