Powell : 196x, remodel 1988

Fair Oaks Blvd, Carmichael, CA

4 beds / 3.5 baths / 2,544 sq. ft / .480 ac lot

This home was originally a Carter Sparks designed Streng Brothers 4 bedroom home built in the mid-1960's, but drastically remodeled by developer Robert Powell and his wife, Jeanette in the mid-80's. Sparks designed the remodel.

The Powells, who lived next door to the Streng home, purchased it, remodeled, and called it "The Teahouse".
They never lived in the house which was used strictly for entertaining.

The current owner [circa 2010], a cement contractor, added the cascading swimming ponds.

As of June 2010, the home is for sale.

From the 2010 real estate listing:
"A true masterpiece of relaxation. This warm, inviting home offers custom wood working with vaulted ceilings, wood floors throughout, floor to ceiling glass windows overlooking a meticulous landscape with custom ponds. You can totally relax with privacy that will make you feel you are in the country while you are minutes away from downtown. This Carter Sparks Custom home is perfect for anyone who wants privacy with a flare. It also has a guest house for friends or staff."
